There are a wide range of proven techniques; below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques we use at our practice.
Diversified chiropractic technique is adjusting a patient on a chiropractic table using the chiropractor’s hands. After a general assessment we adjust the bone out of place back to the correct position. This adjustment can be a couple of specific light force moves using the chiropractor’s hands to relieve subluxations of the body (dis-ease).
The Thompson Technique
Developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson, has evolved into a system of analysis and means of adjusting the spinal cord. The combination produces precise adjustment using a drop table.
Activator Method Technique
Is a chiropractic adjustment used with a handheld instrument called the “Activator” developed by Dr. Arlan Fuhr. The technique is a gentle and softer adjustment but very effective in relieving the body of subluxations. Activator can be used on every individual but especially useful in osteoporotic patients and in children. It is also for patients that don’t like to hear the “crack” of a typical adjustment.
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
Developed by Major Bertrand DeJarnette, DO, DC in the late 1920s and has been researched and developed over the ensuing years. This technique uses blocks to help align the pelvis back into the proper position thus affecting the overall body. This technique is great for people who have an acute problem and gentle for everyone.
Utilizes light pressure contacts on the surface of the body to address parasympathetic and sympathetic imbalances. Physical B.E.S.T. is a non-force way to update this imbalance. The patient lays face down on the table. The doctor uses a light contact along the base of the skull, all the way down the spine, to the outside of the legs. This has a great effect on relieving muscle spasms in the body.
When emotional thoughts such as worry, guilt, fear, judgment, etc become the overriding factor in our memory patterns, this bad pattern (interference) can be the source of us not healing the way we should. This interference, formulated by conscious thought which in turn becomes a bad pattern, prevents healing capability. Emotional B.E.S.T. is an advanced procedure to help identify this emotional pattern, update the interference, and then allow the body to function based on current situations rather than past experiences.
Chiropractic Biophysics Technique (CBP)
CBP is a chiropractic technique dealing with the normal postures of the spine. The correct posture is very important to a chiropractor because it reveals a picture of what the spine is doing and how to correct it. In our office we use certain aspects of the technique such as mirror adjusting and take home exercises. Mirror image adjusting uses the table and certain positions to help reverse a poor posture. We feel this is important part of care because our main goal in the office is to have our patients be able to hold their adjustments longer.
In our office we pay attention to not only the spine, but other joints as well. We can adjust feet, knees, sinuses, wrists, shoulders, TMJ to name a few. This is particularly great for patients who are active and have some irritation in certain areas.
Is a specific analysis and adjustment to take tension off the pelvis while a mother is pregnant. This technique allows the baby to be in the proper position for labor and delivery.
